A Talented Award-winning Artist
"I believe that my artistic creations come from the very depth of my being."
Judy resides in Southwest Florida with her husband and her cockatiel, KiWi, where she pursues her passion for art. Painting with soft pastels and oils, she creates fluidity and movement through use of shapes and beautiful, glowing colors. Receiving inspiration from many subjects, she paints landscapes, waterscapes, sunsets, florals, and wildlife. She believes enhancement and progression of her artistic skills continually evolve from her inner creative self and "listening to her canvas" as she paints.
Her very earliest inspiration came from her grandmother, Minna Anthony Common, a well-known artist and naturalist, who created many beautiful paintings of wildlife and local scenes from the Thousand Island area of the St. Lawrence River. The Wesley Island Nature Center in Northern New York State was named after her. As a young girl, Judy spent many hours with her grandmother as she sketched birds and plant life. Further inspiration and early training was received from her aunt, Catherin Johnson, a well-known, award-winning artist, also in northern New York Staste. Many hours were spent painting with her aunt in her studio in Henderson Harbor, New York on Lake Ontario.
